This broadside from the office of the provost marshal, Platte City, August 15, 1862, extended the time for enrollment in the State Militia in Marshall Township, Platte County, Missouri. The order was issued by L. Hinkle, enrolling officer and provost marshal, Platte County, on behalf of Headquarters, North West Division, District of Missouri. General Order No. 19, issued July 22, 1862 by General John M. Schofield, required every able bodied man capable of bearing arms and subject to military duty to report without delay to the nearest military post and report for duty to the commanding officer.
General Order No. 24, issued August 4, 1862, also by General Schofield, required all disloyal men and those who had sympathized with the rebellion to report to the nearest military post or enrolling station, be enrolled, surrender their arms and return to their homes where they would be permitted to remain as long as they attended to their ordinary business and in no way gave aid or comfort to the enemy.
