Since guerrillas were not regular soldiers and were usually required to arm themselves, they carried a variety of weapons. Their weapons were generally ones they owned and brought with them or obtained from those they defeated.
Examples included revolvers, pistols, shotguns and muskets of different manufacturers and calibers, and sabers, swords and knives of various types. Guerrillas often carried two or more revolvers or pistols along with their other weapons.
Weapons shown are a double-barrel pistol; Smith & Wesson .32 caliber, hinged-barrel, five-shot revolver; U. S. Model 1842 percussion pistol; 1858 Remington .36 caliber Beal Navy Revolver; Savage Model 1860 .36 caliber six-shot percussion revolver; Colt Model 1851 Navy six-shot percussion revolver; .45 caliber percussion rifle converted from a flintlock; and a double-barrel percussion shotgun.
