This wartime broadside was designed by Lieutenant Rob J. Fischer, Camp Sherman, “To the Memory of the Killed & Wounded of the 17th Reg. Mo. Vol. Inf.” The broadside lists the battles in which the regiment took part, and those killed and wounded in action. The regiment was commanded by Colonel Francis Hassendeubel, who died of wounds received at Vicksburg.
The regiment was organized by order of Major General Fremont in August 1861, and was mustered out during the months of September and October 1864.
