This hand drawn map of Vicksburg and the surrounding area was drawn on January 25, 1863, by Colonel Clark Wright of the 6th Missouri Cavalry (US).
Clark Wright mustered into a independent home guard cavalry company on July 5, 1861, as a captain; he was promoted to lieutenant colonel when the independent companies were formed into the 6th Missouri Cavalry on January 9, 1862; he was promoted to colonel and regimental commander on February 14, 1862.
The 6th Missouri Cavalry performed scout duties in Missouri before they participated in the siege and occupation of Vicksburg.
Wright also drew a sketch of the 6th Missouri Cavalry camp at Vicksburg on July 20, 1863.
Colonel Wright was discharged on September 16, 1863.
